Doug's Kitten, Smokey
Hi, I am "Smokey" and I am Doug's Kitten. I have
a lot of work to do here to journal about my life. I
am going to be keeping up this website as a tribute to "my
Doug".
Check back frequently to read my journal..
11/15/07 - I know you have missed me, but I have been very busy helping Mama Marsha finish her new web site: www.marshaglynn.com. Author Marsha Glynn, Doug's Mom, has written a book called Shattered Pieces Of My Heart. You can go to her web site and read about the book and about Marsha. I know that Doug is looking down with a smile on his face, proud of his mother and what she has accomplished. I am proud of her also. And tired from all this work on the web site. Go check it out and order your book before they are gone!

08/09/07 - Yesterday was Doug's 18th birthday! It was a difficult day for a lot of us. Brittaney, Doug's cousin, came over to our house, and we talked about Doug and that it was his 18th birthday. I will always miss Doug! He was my first owner, and will always be my angel. Mama Marsha and Dad Ray, do not shed tears, as Doug is in a wonderful place, with streets of gold, no pain, and he is happy! We are the ones left behind for now! Happy Birthday Doug!

07/09/07 - Sorry I have not written lately. Mama Sandra went to Lancaster, PA to visit with her Mother, who flew up from Alabama. I am still not sure why I could not go! But anyway, Sandra took her computer and I was not able to keep up my blog. When they returned Sunday night I pouted for a while. Just to let them know that I did not appreciate being left behind. But it was not long before Greg and I were playing. Did you enjoy my new video? I thought you would like it!! I will write again soon.

07/09/07 - I'm back! It was a rough week last week. I spent a lot of time just sleeping. I moved from rocking chair, to chair, to the bed just sleeping. Greg and Sandra pampered me all week. It was really kind of nice. If I had not felt so bad, I could have used this to my advantage. I am back to my usual self now ! I am into everything again, and chasing bugs, and playing with Greg.
Mama Marsha, Dad Ray and Rob went to Massachusettes for Kate's wedding! Congratulations Kate! I would have come to the wedding had I not been under the weather! Send me a picture for the website!
Well, I'm off to play. I added some pictures of me being lazy last week. Check back soon for some new ones of me playing again!

07/03/07 - Update on Smokey! Smokey did not get to come home from the vet last night. Greg went to check on her and they wanted to keep her for the night. She had a little difficulty, and her procedure was a little more difficult. Her Dr. wanted to keep an eye on her last night. This morning when I went to pick her up, they had nicknamed her "Spitfire". Her Doctor (Vet) is a family friend and she teased me about my little "spitfire". It seems that Smokey can be quite fiesty, and she was hissing at them when I picked her up. As soon as I got her in the car and started to talk to her, she calmed down and started to lick my fingers. She was definitely glad to be going home!
She has slept most of the day in our bedroom. Dad Greg has been taking care of her and checking on her. As you can tell from the picture, she is not her usual self, but she will be back on the computer soon, and I imagine complaining about her procedure.
We just wanted to give her family and friends an update on her surgery.. When you think about it, how could she not be a little "Spitfire", she always will be Doug's Kitten! Doug, we love Smokey very much!
Sandra

07/02/07 - Well it has been an exciting summer! Mama Marsha and Aunt Lou came to visit with me. It was just not enough time for her to "luv on me", however she is coming back in August. I think she was surprised how much I had grown. Yeah! Mama Marsha and I had our picture made together for her new book. She will have her website for the book up soon. It will be www.marshaglynn.com and I will be in the book! Pretty cool huh? You will have to check it out. I have also included a picture of Mama Marsha and me that is on the her website.
Today, I am heading to the vet for some minor surgery. Greg and Sandra seemed so sad to see me go. I will be home later this evening. I may not feel like writing tonight, but I will try to update you tomorrow on how everything went. They keep telling me I will feel better when this is over.
Until later,

06/05/07 - Hi everyone! I am feeling a little better today, so I wanted to get a note out to everyone. I also posted a new picture. You can tell I'm better, because I am in trouble again. I thought Greg's shoes were a pretty nice play toy! The shoelaces are fun to chew on, however, Greg did not think that was so cool!
Mama Marsha and Dad Ray are coming real soon for a visit. Mama Marsha, we would like you and Aunt Lou and families to come to my house for dinner. Then we can take pictures together. I would probably be most comfortable in my own enviorment. Then I can show you where I hide under the rug, and play. Could you please come? Sandra and Greg said we could all have a cook out! Sounds like fun, and I could be the center of attention! :)
Wait till you see how big I have grown! See you soon....

05/24/07 - Today Doug's High School
class is graduating. Doug was a senior this year and would
have been graduating with them. Mama Marsha, Dad Ray and
Robbie are going over to see his friends graduate. Remember them
in your prayers, as every day is full of memories.
Doug has already graduated!
He is on an inspirational journey with God, where there is
hope, love, and where he is walking with the angels on streets
of gold!
Congratulations Doug on your graduation!!
Much Love from your kitten...

05/23/07 - It is a beautiful sunny
day on the Delmarva Peninsula. I went outside to enjoy the sun,
grass, and hear the birds. Click on my download to see me enjoying
a warm, spring day. That bird sounds good...mmmmmm!

05/21/07 - Hello everyone! I am
really enjoying sunbathing these days as the warm sun shines in
the windows.
I try to sneak out whenever I can to lay in the grass and just
run around. They are not to happy when I do that!
Brittaney came by to see me the other day. I have
added our picture to my photos on the webpage. I do not think
she really appreciated the big kiss on her lips I gave her!
I can't wait till Mama Marsha and Dad Ray and Rob
come for a visit in June. I need to get a pretty new collar before
our visit. Maybe I better go shopping....until later.

05/13//07 -Happy Mother's Day, Mama
Marsha!
I know today is going to be a difficult day for you. I just
wanted you to know that I love you and Doug does too! Nothing
can replace a mother's love. Take it easy today, relax,
stay in bed, (that is what I am doing) and just remember that you
are loved!!!!

04/19//07 - I am so excited because
I got a letter on the blog from Mama Marsha. We are going
to have our picture made in June for Mama Marsha's book that we
are writing together. I will make sure that Tim's brushes
my coat really good so it is shiny for the picture.
Did you realize that I will soon be a famous author?
Then I will have a book and a blog! Don't worry, you will
all still be my friends. After all I am not a snob Kitten! However,
some people would disagree with that. I have become very
fond of a certain kind of coffee. When ever I find a cup
around the house, I finish it off! Mmmmm...good stuff! (Check
the new pictures).

04/18//07 - Hello everyone! I'm
still waiting for mail to Smokey. No one has sent me an email.
Please write me. Hello Mama Marsha and Dad Ray. I am doing
good and growing like a weed! Greg has been having to travel
alot with work these days, so I am getting quite spoiled. I have
been sleeping in the master bedroom with Sandra. She does
tend to take all the pillows, but I quess a kitten can't complain
too much! Greg is home on the weekends and always takes time to
play with me under the rug. It is our favorite game. At
least I think I am entertaining him.
It came to me the other day why I am in Maryland. I
am here to be near Doug. Since he is in Maryland, it is
only fitting that I am here near him, to watch over him for Mama
Marsha and Dad Ray. I do miss you guys though and look forward
to seeing you this summer. OK everyone...write me please!

04/09//07 - Ok, I had to laugh as
I read my last post. Saturday it snowed here! And
this is suppose to be April. I hope everyone had a blessed Easter!
I am glad to know that Jesus rose, because that is how I know that
Doug is with Him today. We think of Doug often around here.
He would be so surprised to see how much I have grown. I
am putting my "Easter" picture up on the website for
everyone to see.
This morning I was sitting and looking out the back
window.
First three turkeys ran across the backyard. Then a big fat
squirrel looked like he was storing up for the winter. I
guess he thinks it must be winter again too! It was an
interesting morning!
For those of you who are knew here, I wanted to let you know
that I am working on my book. It should be out sometime soon.
It takes awhile to write a book, so keep checking back and I will
keep you updated!
Happy
Easter to you all! And Doug - to you - Blessed Easter as
your are with our Risen Savior.

03/30//07 - Finally it is getting
sunny and warm! I love to sun bathe in the warm sunlight
coming through the windows. I also love to be outside! Greg
will take me out with him and I just lay in the grass and enjoy
the sun. OK, now I have to let you know the mischief I have
been up to... I hide under the rug and jump out to scare Tim, Sandra & Greg.
HeHeHe... Sometimes I just reach a paw out and grab them
as they walk by. So much fun!
I am also known as a "coffee snob" now! The
other night Greg and Sandra were having something called "Starbucks" . I
did not understand all the fuss over this, so when Sandra wasn't
looking I decided to try a little. Hmmmm, that stuff is really
good! Sandra said that they now have a "coffee snob
cat". Who me? Until later.....

03/18//07 - Today was a fun Sunday! The
grandchildren were over. Karlie and Megan, and I played with them.
I would hide under the furniture and then reach and grab them when
they went by. Megan would squeal. It was quite amusing!,
Then when Greg brought the mail in I had a surprise
from my family in Texas. That is Doug's mom and dad. They
had sent me a mouse! Not a real mouse, but a stuffed one. It
was a lot of fun playing with the mouse. I would carry him around
by the tail. Well, I'm exhauseted so I'm headed to sleep...Thank
you Mom Glynn and Dad Glynn.

03/12//07 - OK, I have to admit.
I have been a "naughty" kitty. Someone left the
door open, and out I ran. Greg had fun chasing me around
the yard, under the car, and then Tim had to save me from a rosebush
which attacked me. And then I heard this horrible noise
which scared me to death. As I made a mad dash back to the
house, I heard Greg say it was a "dog". Well
to say the least, I slept good last night!

03/03//07 - We have a beautiful
picture of Kaitlyn and Doug on the website! It was so good
to hear from Kaitlyn. She also sent a picture of her tatto
in memory of Doug. I wonder if I could get a tattoo?
Enjoy the new pictures of me. I am really in to Coca
Cola lately. I am growing so fast, and almost no longer
a kitten! Check back for more updates on me...

02/27/07 - Hey eveyone! Remember
me? Smokey... Well things have been happening here. Tim has been
in driving school every day after school. Tomorrow is his last
day to drive and then watch out everyone! He and Greg went
last Saturday to look for a car. Those things are as expensive
as a computer for me.
By the way! I have not gotten any donations for
this computer I need. Does anyone need an address? Maybe
it could be tax deductible? I'm going to have some new pictures
up on the web site tomorrow. I have grown so much and I
am in trouble alot. But they still love me! Sounds like
Doug doesn't it? Love to all, and I will write soon.

02/18//07 - Hey Gang! I
am sorry that I have not written in my journal for several days. It
has been really crazy around here and I have not been able to get
on the computer. Both Greg and Sandra are working on them
all the time. Maybe I should take up donations and get
my own computer?
Well, Tim had to go to Johns Hopkins on Thursday for his bi-annual
heart check-up. It seems that before I knew him, when he
was only 6 years old, he had heart surgery. Now he goes
for regular checkups. They said his heart looks good, but
he is having some irregular heartbeats, so he has to go back in
March for a stress test. I was home by myself all day on
Thursday when they all went to Baltimore. I wonder if they
would let me go with them next time? I am sure I could be
good. Well, maybe not :) Chat later...
02/12//07 - Today was a fun
day! I am learning to entertain myself while Tim is at school,
and Greg and Sandra work. They sit at those computers all day chasing "mice". I'm
not sure I get it yet! Anyway, I found that I can sneek
into the closet in Greg's office and then surprise him! However,
today I got caught coming out of the closet (no pun intended)! Ok,
let's call it a chifferobe. I
have been perusing the internet some too! Anyway, enjoy
the picture!

02/11//07 - Today has been
a difficult day for a lot of us. Doug has been in my thoughts
a lot today. I will always remember Doug, as he was very
special to me and I loved him a lot.

02/10//07 - I think it was
Christmas or my birthday or something today! I got a new
tumbling toy, a catnip to play with, a nice cat brush and a nice
new bed. You can see the picture of me snoozing in my new
bed on the left side. Also, this morning Tim gave me a BATH! Can
you believe that? I thought I was doing pretty good bathing
myself, but geez if I get all these presents, I guess it is worth
it.

02/08//07 - Tonight my journal
note is for Rob, Doug's brother. Rob, I know that you started
a new school today and have to make new friends now. I understand
how that is, because I have had to make new friends here in Maryland. I
just want you to know that I am thinking about you, and hope you
make lots of friends like I have.
02/06//07 - Wow! Greg
and I are becoming good friends while Tim is at school. Greg
is Tim's step-dad. He plays ball with me and I chase paper
balls from the garbage around his office. When he left his
office for a while, I climbed up in his chair and went to sleep. At
least he did not disturb me when he returned, and just set on the
edge of the chair while I finished my nap. Guess who rules
this house? :)

02/04/07 - Ok, were you rooting
for the Colts or the Chicago Bears? I have to be honest
and tell you that I did not watch the game. In fact I was kind
of a minx today. They told me I was going to go out with the trash.
Check out the picture below... Or maybe the truth is that I climbed
in the trash can to take a nap. Well, hey it was warm!

02/03/07 - I baked Tim a cake
today for his birthday. I'm not sure that he was impressed,
as I used chicken livers, cat food, and some fish heads in the
cake batter. However, the cake decorated really nice.. Bet
you did not know I had it in me. I am a chip off the "ole
block". Doug could always do what he put his mind to. Tim
went by to visit Doug today at the grave site. I think he
just needed Doug to know that I am alright, and that I'm living
with him, and that both of us love him.!
Happy Birthday Tim!

02/02/07 - Tomorrow is Tim's
birthday. He will be sixteen years old. I am trying
to think of a really good present for him, because he has really
been good to me. He plays with me and keeps me occupied,
so I do not think about Doug as much. (Although that is hard to
do!) I know he wants a car, but I have not figured out
how to accomplish that. If anyone has any ideas of a good
present would you write me and let me know? Thanks, because
I do not have much time to shop. Hey, could I shop on the internet
and bill it to his parents? :) You could also send "Happy
Birthday" congrats to him through my email listed below.

01/31/07 - This is the last
day of January. It is amazing how life goes on. There have
been some wonderful comments on the blog. We would love to
hear from more of Doug's friends. Thank you Erin and Brooke for
sending pictures and comments. They are so special to Mom
(Marsha), Dad (Ray) and the rest of the family. I am doing
well, but continue to think of Doug and decided to write him. As
Ray said, I have Doug's spirit; sometimes I am loving, and sometimes
I am fiesty. But everyone loves me! Thank you Doug for letting
me be a part of your life, and for allowing me to be there with
you when you went home. Please send comments to me about Doug to
include on my page also.

01/29/07 - First let me remind you
to check out the new photos of Doug on the photo page. (See my "Smokey's
Notes"). Then I have to tell you that it looks like my permanent
home now is going to be with Doug's cousin in Maryland, Tim. He
seems to really like me and he reminds me of Doug. I guess
they were cousins and have some of the same jeans...or
is that "genes"?. Anyway, his family seems excited
I'm staying. They bought me some nice new bowls, and toys,
cat treats, and something called cat shampoo. Guess I will
find out what that is later. Until then.....

01/27/07 - Okay, be honest...have
you missed my journal the last few days? I have been really
busy exploring, finding neat places to hide and attack the "people",
and just having a good time. I have found this neat yellow
ball that I chase around the hardwood floors. Everyone seems
to enjoy watching me slide across the floor to catch the ball. I
have also been learning more and more about computers. Like..you
do not walk on the keyboards; that is a "NO,
SMOKEY!", and the "mouse" is not really a
mouse. It is just a funny object on the screen. I am
planning another video for you soon, so please check back. And
you guys could write me too. I would post your comments on
my blog here. Click on this link for my email address: SMOKEY Hey,
I even can get mail now. I wish I could write Doug and let
him know that I am alright and ask him how he is doing.....

01/24/07 - Tim had school today,
so I have been hanging out with his Mom and Step-Dad. I think
they really appreciate my help on the computer as I pounce on each
of theirs while they are working. Maybe that is why they
decided I needed a nap this afternoon, because I worked so hard. Anyway,
I curled up in Tim's bed and slept for a while.
I still think of Doug everyday and miss him. Please
add to his blog, on this website. It
would help me and his mom, Marsha and dad, Ray to hear from you.

01/23/07 - All right, I will have
to admit that I have been in trouble today. I found this
really nice plant in this warm room; I think I heard Tim
call it a "sunroom". No, duh! Well anyway,
it was a little tree, Norfolk Pine I heard one of the people say,
and I would climb in the pot and dig in the dirt. I did
not think this was a problem. But everytime I did it they
would scold me and then out would come this BIG NOISY machine. It
would suck up the dirt, and my play time was over. They
closed the doors to that room after today. Guess I will
have to find some other way to entertain myself. I did find this
fun rope! Tell you about it tomorrow.

01/22/07 - It is kind of a lazy
day around here for me. Everyone is "working". Except
for Tim who went bowling with his friends. I do not understand
why I could not go. But I'm going to do some exploring and
work on this tribute...after my nap.

01/21/07 - We were up late last
night working on Doug's tribute, so I slept like a "kitten" this
morning. hehehe... I also played a lot with these
neat boxes, and toys they had for me.
You would think these silly people had never seen a kitten the
way they laughed at me as I chased toys, played with them and the
boxes, and was attacked by a large "peacock" plant. I'm
glad that I can entertain these humans, at least!

01/20/07 - Life is different in
Maryland, than in Texas. Life is different without Doug.
It take time to heal when you lose someone you love. Tim is great,
and I'm sure I wil learn to love him. But Doug will aways be my
hero!.

01/19/07 - I went to stay with Doug's
cousin, Tim, today. He has a nice room, and brought
all my toys for me. His mom let me sit in her lap while she
worked on the computer. I kept trying to "catch" the mouse on
the screen. She seemed to think that was amusing. I'm
a smart cat though and it wasn't long before I had this computer
stuff down pat.
